Abstract: This study investigates the impact of outdoor play on physical development and motor skills among preschool children in Osun State, Nigeria. The objective is to explore how outdoor environments contribute to gross motor coordination, sensory integration, and overall physical health. Employing a mixed-methods research design, quantitative data is collected through structured observations and physical assessments of children, while qualitative insights are gathered through interviews with educators and parents. The sample size is determined using Taro Yamane's formula to ensure representation across diverse age groups and geographical locations. A case study approach examines a local preschool with extensive outdoor play facilities. Findings suggest that regular outdoor play enhances motor proficiency, spatial awareness, and physical fitness in early childhood. Recommendations emphasize designing safe outdoor environments, integrating natural elements into play areas, and promoting active play as a core component of early childhood curriculum to support holistic development.
